About usJoint Professions Group (JPG) was formed by the Southern Society of Chartered Accountants, part of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), and represents some 20 professional bodies whose members are based in the South of England including West Sussex, Surrey, Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The primary aim of JPG is to connect professionals by providing opportunities for joint business and social events, training and professional networking. JPG is not a membership body (ie there are no membership fees) - it is simply a group of professionals seeking to provide a framework for dynamic business networking. We organise two main events a year and seek to provide an experience to which members of the public would not ordinarily have access; previous successful events have included Southampton Port, the RNLI, the Spinnaker Tower, INTECH, NOCS and, most recently, BAE Systems' ship building facilities in Portsmouth and the Beaulieu Motor Museum in Hampshire. The next one will be in October 2011 at the Police training centre, Hamble. In addition, we promote other Institutes’ events and courses that may be relevant and useful to members, thus enabling them to benefit from the professional and technical skills training offered by these other bodies. Additional participantsIn addition to the Institutes whose logos appear here, other professional bodies include CIPFA, CIPR, The Law Society-Dorset, CIMI, RIBA, and STEP. JPG enjoyed a thoroughly interesting event at the Hampshire Constabulary's Firearms Department. 30 guests attended the event, with members from the ICAEW, ACCA, CMI, CIM, CII, ILEX, CILT, RICS, and the Law Society. The evening was introduced by Chief Inspector Adrian Kingswell (Chartered Management Institute Solent committee and a CMI Ambassador) and followed up with a presentation from Inspector Gerry Kiernan, Tactical Firearms Unit, on the 'Conflict Management Model'. The evening concluded with a tour of the firearms unit, including, a showcase of firearms used and obtained, a display of equipment and vehicles used, and lastly, a simulation used for training to see your reaction in a critical incident. "well done... a superb evening at the Police Training Centre. It was an interesting insight into the world of the armed police." Jonathan Holdaway, CII. |
